Faith, Opportunity, and the Gift I Gave Vivica A. Fox

I woke up one morning to a text from a friend: a link for tickets to the Women’s Expo. At first, I thought, “Maybe next time I’ll sponsor the show.” But something inside of me stirred. After a few more thoughts, I picked up the phone and asked if, by chance, there were any booths left for vendors.

The woman on the other end said, “You won’t believe this — someone just canceled, and there’s one booth left.”

There it was: the opportunity.

I wasn’t prepared. I didn’t have banners, tables, chairs, business cards, or even my packaging. But I’ve learned that it isn’t my job to figure out the “how.” That’s God’s job. My job is to take action. So, I said yes to the booth and jumped into motion — driving through floods, working tirelessly through the night, and hiring last-minute help just to show up.

When I arrived, the event coordinator escorted me to my space and smiled:
“You got the best booth at the event. Tomorrow Vivica A. Fox will be right next to you speaking.”

Once again — the opportunity.

When the Rain Feels Like a Setback

If you’ve ever been in Arizona, you know that when it rains, it feels like a tsunami to us desert dwellers. The storm kept crowds away, and the first day was painfully slow. I felt disappointment creeping in as sales trickled and my mind whispered, “You just wasted all this money.”

The second day was even slower. Not one sale.

But that’s when everything shifted.

A Gift of Faith

Just before Vivica was about to go on stage, my booth neighbor stopped by and showed me the gift she was planning to give Vivica. Inspiration struck: “Girl, I’m stealing your idea.”

I bundled my Trinity necklace, matching earrings, a bottle of anointing oil, and the very last copy of my book. As I signed her name in the book, the event staff leaned over and said:
“I’m going to make sure you’re the very first one to meet her.”

And just like that, God opened the door.

When I met Vivica, she smiled, embraced the gift, and I felt such a deep sense of blessing. It wasn’t about sales anymore. It was about obedience.

Vivica A. Fox on Faith

Vivica herself has never been shy about faith. She once said:

“First thing I do in the morning is give thanks to God for another day.”

In an interview with Erica Campbell, she explained that she believes God is speaking to her all the time, helping her make better choices. She described her spiritual mission simply:

“To be kind, to do unto others, and to leave a good mark.”

Those words echoed in my spirit as I handed her the gift. None of this would have happened had I denied the opportunity, made excuses, or stood in fear.

Stepping Out in Faith

The weekend didn’t go as I planned, but it went exactly as God planned. I ended up meeting my sales goal and breaking even — but more importantly, I launched my business with faith as my foundation.

Vivica’s testimony and my experience at the expo reminded me that success doesn’t always come in the way we expect. Sometimes, it comes in showing up when you’re not ready, saying yes when you’re scared, and giving when you feel like you have nothing left.

Faith isn’t about having the perfect plan — it’s about trusting the One who already does.

The Lesson

If you’re reading this, I want to encourage you:

  • Don’t wait until you’re “ready.”
  • Don’t let fear stop you.
  • Don’t ignore the nudge when opportunity presents itself.

Because when you move in faith, God will always set you up for something bigger than you ever dreamed.

That’s what He did for me at the Women’s Expo — and that’s what He can do for you.
